Mismatched cousins David and Benji embark on a road trip across Poland once again to honor their beloved grandmother. The adventure takes a turn when their family history reveals old tensions within the odd couple. When Benji and David visit their grandmother in Poland, it’s the home of Jesse Eisenberg; real ancestors settled in the diaspora. Benji Kaplan: We stay moving, we stay light, we stay agile. Benji Kaplan: The conductor comes, takes our tickets, we tell him we’re going to the bathroom.
Benji Kaplan: Yeah
David Kaplan: The bathroom. Benji Kaplan: He comes behind the train, starts heading toward the front, looking for bumps. David Kaplan: Excuse me, are we wreckers? When he gets to the front, the train is at the station and we’re free to go home. David Kaplan: This is fucking stupid.
This is our country
Tickets are probably like twelve bucks. Benji Kaplan: That’s the rule. We shouldn’t have to pay for train tickets in Poland. David Kaplan: No, it wasn’t, it was our country. They kicked us out because they thought we were cheap.

I saw this movie last week at the AFI Hollywood Film Festival. When I got to this movie, I was suffering from a bit of movie overload and I was talking to someone in the audience before the movie started, I almost forgot what I was going to see! But I was so happy when I saw it! As you know from the synopsis, Jesse Eisenberg wrote, directed and starred in this wonderful movie about two cousins who travel to Poland to visit their beloved grandmother’s country. Eisenberg plays the role he seems to be born for perfectly – a tense, nervous, family man who always wants to do the right thing.
So I suggest you check this out ASAP
Eisenberg is joined by Kieran Culkin, who plays the opposite of Eisenberg – talkative, outgoing, and eager to break the rules, much to Eisenberg’s chagrin. Culkin’s character easily befriends his fellow travelers and guide – again, much to Eisenberg’s surprise (and sometimes chagrin). The story itself is very engaging, and you’ll want to join them on their journey. Culkin could be nominated for an Oscar here, and Eisenberg could be nominated for writing and/or directing.
